 scleral buckling components

Mira offers a wide range of scleral buckling implants fabricated from two different silicone materials, Silicone Sponge and Solid Silicone. The solid silicone is designed to provide the appropriate softness and tensile strength. and the silicone sponge implants are produced from a small-cell medical grade elastomer sponge. Another important consideration is the double sterile packaging that offers convenience to the user with its positive identification and maximum sterile integrity.

In 1960, Dr. Charles Schepens introduced silicone and sponge as a material to be used as an implant in treating retinal detachment incidents. He, along with associates, devised a range of implants and founded a company, MIRA Inc., to produce a complete range of product. MIRA Inc., under the guidance of Dr. Schepens has been producing this product since then and is continually introducing new designs in response to requests from retinal specialists around the world.
